Kern County: 32-year-old Darrell Meeken who repeatedly threatened and beat a woman he trafficked on Union Ave. in Bakersfield was sentenced to 21 years and 4 months in state prison. He had multiple domestic violence arrests prior to his human trafficking arrest. Shasta County: CHP officer conducting a traffic stop observed multiple indicators of human trafficking with the male and 2 females occupants in the vehicle. The stop resulted in discovering an active federal arrest warrant for the male for sex trafficking a minor. He was taken into federal custody by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations. One of the female passengers was an unreported missing minor from Spokane, Washington. Two months prior, OCHTTF Investigator with CHP went to Shasta County to train their CHP patrol officers.
