Soroptimists from multiple clubs collaborated with the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force to educate 500 students from 21 middle school on Thursday, January 30th. Fullerton, Anaheim and Santa Ana school district students spent 4 hours at Vanguard University learning about the red flags in relationships, sexual exploitation, internet safety and the dangers of human trafficking.
Soroptimists participated in the Resource Fair, asking questions of students after their education by near-peers (Live2Free and Higher Ground). Students with the correct answers got their Passports stamped, and redeemed their stamped Passports for raffle tickets, featuring 250 possible prizes.
Twenty-eight nonprofits and government agencies participated in the event.
In addition to the Resource Fair, the STAT team volunteered in numerous other ways, including packing the student backpacks, passport redemption tables, raffle prize tables, guiding students to their seats, prepping all 600 lunches for students, teachers, chaperones, speakers and volunteers, distributing lunch, and a host of other activities.
